Grains HQ is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team! Based in the heart of downtown Ottawa, Grains HQ serves as the home to several grain sector organizations, including the Canada Grains Council, Soy Canada, and the Grain Growers of Canada. Job Overview:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for coordinating and administering the financial records, systems, and processes for three agricultural organizations. This role includes managing bookkeeping, payroll, record keeping, banking, and all related financial administration.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Systems and Processes:
- Administer and coordinate accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing.
- Manage payroll, remittances, budget monitoring, and other financial systems as required.
- Ensure accurate coding and tracking of expenses.
Payment Processing:
- Maintain and oversee payments on RBC Express, including uploading payments to the platform.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain digital files for accounting-related paperwork efficiently and accurately, and in accordance with the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Monthly and Annual Procedures:
- Perform month-end and year-end procedures, including preparing all month-end reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly financial statements for review.
- Prepare year-end working papers for annual audits.
- Prepare annual HST remittances.
Government Reporting:
- Assist with government grant finance reporting
Qualifications:
- A degree or diploma in bookkeeping, or a related field.
- A solid understanding of GAAP guidelines
- 3 years of bookkeeping experience.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Experience working for another industry association is an asset.
