Position Title – General Accountant
Position Location – Collingwood, ON
Reports to – VP Finance
Summary of Position: The General Accountant will work closely with the VP Finance to assist with the administration of the finance and accounting functions including banking, billing\invoicing, purchasing\inventory control, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cancellations, fleet management and related documentation and reconciliations.
Responsibilities:
- Review, edit\update accounting policies to ensure they meet the needs of the entire organization
- Travel to and work with other staff in all office locations
- Ensure monthly billing and purchasing cycles are accurate and completed within established deadlines
- Prepare required financial reports
- Prepare and post all required payroll information to the accounting system and post journal entries as required
- Support and provide backup for the payroll processing
- Responsible for overseeing daily deposits and (bank) reconciliation are accurate and related postings including company credit card management\reconciliation
- Responsible for petty cash management
- Assist with the calculations of sales commission for the sales staff and provide supporting documentation the sales staff
- Work with billing\invoicing, accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure accurate processing and resolution to any issues that may arise
- Ensure service tickets, job costing is tracked and costed accurately
- Assist with monthly financial reporting to ensure accuracy within established deadlines
- Responsible for other general accounting functions including monthly cycle billing, GL account reconciliations HST remittances, WSIB remittances and payroll remittances
- Special projects and other related general accounting duties as assigned
- Assist with Fleet Management – fuel cards, costing and leases
Requirements:
- 5-7 years related accounting experience or equivalent education (College/ University) and experience combined
- Related experience includes general accounting, financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, billing, banking and job costing
- CPA designation or working towards designation would be an asset
- Understands the importance of confidentiality
- Detail orientated, organized, team player and the ability to work independently
- Excellent computer skills including MS office, ERP and payroll software
- Understanding of general business operations and a keen desire to contribute to a successful business
- Communication, team building, cooperation skills
- Valid drivers license and clear criminal record
