Job Description – Branch Accountant
The Branch Accountant will be responsible for the accounting for Real Insurance Solutions located in Nanaimo. This individual will be reporting to the Accounting Supervisor and Assistant Controller.
Main job tasks and responsibilities:
Branch Accountant:
- Data entry
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable duties
- Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
- Reconciliation of various general ledger accounts
- Bank and trust account reconciliations
- Preparing, entering and posting of journal entries
- Analyzing revenue and expense variances
- Performing internal audit functions
- Preparing management reports for head office
- Ability to navigate fully through the insurance broker management systems (employee setup, accounting setup, utilities etc)
- Ability to troubleshoot systems errors
- Training of other staff members
- Other administrative/operational tasks as required
Qualifications required for this position:
- Minimum 1 years of accounting related experience
- Level 1 insurance license (preferred)
- Excellent organization skills
- Great attention to detail and accuracy
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and set priorities
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Proficiency with Microsoft office applications
