Purpose of Position
- To coordinate not-for-profit finance related activities of Scarborough Women’s Centre
- To support the Centre’s professional staff in their work with marginalized women

Job Specifications
1. FINANCE
- Manage accounts payable
- Manage accounts receivable
- Manage payroll and fee for service payments
- Pay all Receiver General taxes and amounts owing -
- 2 signatures are required on all cheques, off-site coordination with signing officers is required
- Record HST allocations and prepare 50% refund forms- semi annually
- Prepare WSIB quarterly and payment to be made at bank or post as needed
- Prepare and submit Property tax credit claim to the City of Toronto
- Prepare Investing in Neighbourhoods reporting and submit monthly
- Prepare required CRA reporting
- Receive and allocate all donations, both cash and in-kind
- Deposit cheques received in a timely manner
- Provide information to the Administrative Assistant for recognition of donation in our database, program flyers, newsletter and annual report
- Generate charitable and/or business receipts for donations
- Receive and appropriately allocate grant payments
- Allocate expenses and revenue to proper accounts and grant programs, as directed by Executive Director – up to 10 special grant programs, plus core
- Provide detailed information on expenditures for funder reporting - quarterly basis
- Prepare all bank deposits, for deposit in appropriate accounts – and make bank deposits as required
- Banking
-maintain accounts
-coordinate cheque signing
-monthly reconciliation of bank statements, to be approved by Executive Director
- Assist Executive Director and Treasurer with budget preparations
- Prepare materials for the annual external audit
- Assist auditor as needed, and be available by phone and in-person during the audit period
- Generate monthly financial statements for the Executive Director, Treasurer and Board of Directors
- Monitor bank account levels for all programs and inform Executive Director of any concerns
- Provide information for Executive Director to share with Fundraising Committee on results of any fundraising activities
- Mail must be picked up at the SWC weekly, if you have been informed that it has been received
2. TEAM WORK
- Work co-operatively with the Administrative Assistant to ensure the smooth running of the administrative and financial aspects of the Centre
- Meet regularly with the Executive Director
- Meet with the Treasurer, Finance Committee and Executive Director as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 year’s book-keeping experience, preferably in a small Not For Profit office with responsibility to execute a variety of book-keeping tasks
- Clear understanding of non-profit and charitable accounting, including detailed financial reporting on government grants
- Familiarity and comfort with an online accounting environment
- Working knowledge of online accounting software QuickBooks
- Foster honesty, reliability, dependability
- Open and clear communication skills
- Well organized, a self-starter, able to work alone and in a team
- Concerned about women’s issues, but will not be providing direct service with women
- Able to provide a clean police check
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Must have a functional, secure home office set up
- Preference that the successful candidate spends 1 day per week at the Centre, in addition to working from home office
Conditions
This is a permanent part time employment arrangement. It pays $35 per hour for approximately 3 days per week.
