Job Description
What will you work on?
Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, the senior accountant will be a key player in the financial closing of the North American entities at Spin Master, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, and providing valuable insights for financial decision-making. This role supports the accounting department in maintaining efficient and effective financial records, managing month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes and preparing financial reports.
How will you create impact?
Full cycle month end closing duties including but not limited to:
- Perform financial analysis to support business decisions and prepare reports for management and external stakeholders
- Full cycle booking of journal entries including revenue recognition, expense drawdowns, accruals, payroll, etc.
- Ensure proper classification and recording of financial transactions
- Review financial data to identify discrepancies or inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions
- Oversee monthly preparation of Balance Sheet account reconciliations
- Collaborate with other departments/team members to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded
- Support quarterly and year-end internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and analysis
- Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives, providing accounting support and insights
- Maintain strong internal controls and support efforts to improve efficiency and mitigate financial risk
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis to support business operations and decision-making
What are your skills and experience?
- Experience preferably in public company setting
- CPA or, at a minimum, pursuing a CPA designation
- Strong knowledge of IFRS
- Strong computer literacy with advanced level Excel skill (pivot table, v-lookups, and advanced formulas)
- Previous experience with SAP or other ERP systems
