Join Body First Wellness Centre, a dynamic clinic dedicated to health and wellness through personalized fitness and rehabilitation services. We are seeking a full-time Accountant/Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day accounting and financial functions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing accurate financial reports. This role requires proficiency in accounting software and a strong understanding of financial auditing and account reconciliation processes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and payroll.
- Maintain accurate financial records: chart of accounts, general ledger, financial statements, budgeting, and reporting.
- Process semi-monthly payroll, ensuring accurate data entry and remittances.
- Prepare financial reports, trial balances, and monthly/annual statements.
- Handle monthly HST reporting and budgeting.
- Collaborate with management and external accountants for annual audits.
- Assist in developing policies to streamline financial operations.
- Perform account analysis and reconciliation, including bank reconciliation, to maintain accurate financial records.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks to record transactions and generate reports.
- Conduct financial audits to ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.
- Prepare detailed financial reports for management review, highlighting key performance indicators.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts to support strategic planning.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
- Maintain organized documentation for all financial transactions to facilitate audits and reviews.
Experience
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience; healthcare or clinic experience is a plus. Proficient in data management and financial analysis.
- Advanced skills in accounting software (Quick Books) and MS Office, especially Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Strong attention to detail and with strong analytical skills.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, and account reconciliation.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
