The opportunity
We are seeking a results-driven Controller to become an integral part of our Accounting & Finance team. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance, you will be instrumental in shaping the company's financial systems, processes and procedures, ensuring sound financial management, and driving rapid and sustainable growth. Your key responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports to be presented to executive leadership, board of directors, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial reporting standards.
- Oversee, and assist with the preparation of financial statements and coordinate external engagements.
2. Financial Operations:
- Oversee accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Streamline financial processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Manage the financial close process and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
3. Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and implement financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
- Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations to executive leadership for decision-making.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess the company's financial health and performance.
4. Cash Management and Treasury:
- Assist with the management of cash flow and liquidity to support daily operations and strategic initiatives.
- Review of balance sheet accounts and follow-up where necessary to ensure efficient utilization of working capital.
5. Risk Management and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, laws, and internal policies.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures as well as internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
6. Strategic Planning and Decision Support:
- Provide financial analysis and support for strategic initiatives, investments, and business decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate new business opportunities and initiatives.
7. Leadership and Team Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and communication to achieve organizational goals.
Your experience and skills:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; Master's degree or recognized professional accounting designation (e.g. CIA, CPA, CA, CMA and CGA) preferred.
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in a finance role, with a proven track record of success in financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting systems and financial software with high proficiency in Excel.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards, and local regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with executive leadership and other stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on fostering a high-performing and collaborative work environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
