Accounts Receivable Clerk (3-6 month contract to hire)

Staffing Placement Opportunity
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Receivable Clerk role works closely with Finance and customers. The successful candidate will bring strong communication, proactive scrutiny, and organizational skills to the role: serving as an effective liaison between Finance and sales.
Examples of specific activities at the Accounts Receivable Clerk level include:
▪ Issue credit memos for defective claims and other deductions including rebates.
▪ Prepare payments from Amazon, Walmart, Target, Home Depot.
▪ Update price lists for import coordinators when requested and validate accuracy.
▪ Respond to emails from customer service regarding credits/returns and issue refund onto customer credit card through Sezzle, Affirm and Shopify.
▪ Prepare payment for RMAs setup to send for posting.
▪ Run AR Aging, Debit Note, and Credit and unapplied payment reports weekly and review for outstanding or overdue items.
▪ Obtain backup for unknown deductions from customer payments or as required
▪ Verify rebate deductions with agreements and add to spreadsheet to report on total deductions.
▪ Prepare and validate Flash report for Sales Managers.
Responsibilities
▪ Perform daily full cycle accounts receivable activities, including but not limited to reviewing defective claims, collection calls, customer set up, support credit functions, deposits and customer reconciliations.
▪ Assist with accounts receivable general ledger reconciliations and month end closing process.
▪ Examine accounts receivable aging and escalate as needed, respond to related enquiries, and provide support to our international team members.
▪ Inspect transactions for discrepancies and compliance to internal controls and policies.
▪ Perform other accounting, administrative or analysis duties as assigned.
▪ Cross train within the team.
Qualifications
All requirements are based on 1-3 plus years of experience and include, but are not limited to the following:
▪ Required – Certificate or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field
▪ 2+ years – Business experience in Finance, Accounting
▪ CPA Designation or working towards the CPA PEP program is an asset
▪ Previous experience in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is preferred
▪ Knowledge of import industry an asset
▪ Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, writing abilities, strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and proven ability to work independently.
▪ Intermediate MS Excel skills with experience in pivot tables and vlookup
