RPHCA (Riley Park Hillcrest Community Assoctiation) is a partner with the Vancouver Park Board in the delivery of community programs at the Hillcrest Centre. Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for each pay period and manage payroll tax remittances.
- Prepare cheque payments and manage the cheque register.
- Maintain records of financial transactions by establishing accounts, posting transactions, and ensuring legal compliance.
- File GST and PST returns for the company (non-profit).
- Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations, including credit card, Visa card, and petty cash reconciliations.
- Generate monthly and annual financial reports, including Income Statements.
- Handle year-end adjustments and tasks.
- Perform accounting duties specific to non-profit organizations, including compliance with charity regulations.
- Handle email correspondence related to financial matters.
- Prepare and submit Worksafe BC and GST remittances.
- Collaborate closely with ActiveNet staff for accurate seasonal revenue reporting.
- Ensure accurate deferral of funds and preparation of seasonal financial statements.
- Manage government grant reporting, with a focus on Ministry of Children and HRDC funding.
- Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying regulations, enforcing adherence, filing reports, and advising management on necessary actions.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in bookkeeping and accounting for registered charities.
- Strong understanding of revenue and expense timing, particularly in seasonal operations.
- Proven experience in preparing charity-specific audit reports and government filings.
- Ability to manage payroll, tax remittances, and compliance with government requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Bookkeeper Qualifications / Skills:
- Experienced in Quickbook
- ActiveNet is considered an asset
- Plooto is a plus
- Familiar with Canadian Payroll Compliances and other Canadian accounting legal standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent organization communication skills
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Canadian Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification will be an asset
- Experience in working with Ministry of Children/HRDC funding.
- Previous experience in a non-profit or charity environment.
