Job Responsibilities
As an Accounting Clerk working across our two dealerships in Truro, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our accounting functions. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable: Manage and process invoices, payments, and collections, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Payroll Administration: Assist with payroll processing, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Onboarding: Facilitate a comprehensive onboarding process that includes an introduction to company culture, values, and expectations. Ensure new employees are provided with the necessary tools, training, and resources to succeed in their roles. Provide ongoing support and check-ins to assist with their integration into the team.
- Offboarding: Manage a respectful and structured offboarding process for departing employees, including exit interviews, final payroll processing, and the return of company property. Ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities and maintain positive relationships to support future opportunities for re-engagement.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of accounts to maintain accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Monthly Tax Filings: Prepare and submit monthly tax filings in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining and updating the general ledger.
- Financial Reporting: Support the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Expense Tracking: Monitor and track expenses, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
- Bank Deposits: Handle daily bank deposits and maintain accurate records.
- Vendor Management: Communicate with vendors and suppliers to resolve payment issues and discrepancies.
- Other Relevant Accounting Tasks: Perform additional duties as assigned to support the dealership's accounting functions.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in an accounting role (minimum 5 years), priority will be given to those with previous automotive experience.
- Education: Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field (diploma or degree, or equivalent work experience).
- Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software (experience with dealership management systems is a plus).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing individual responsibilities.
