Position Description
The Junior Accountant at Braden Equities Inc. plays an essential role in supporting the financial operations of our extensive property portfolio, which includes both residential and commercial properties. This position is responsible for assisting in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records, conducting financial analysis, and preparing financial reports. The Junior Accountant will also assist in ensuring compliance with financial regulations, implementing effective internal controls, and supporting financial planning. The role involves collaboration with property managers, other finance team members, and external auditors to support the financial health and operational efficiency of the company.
Key responsibilities include assisting with the preparation and review of financial statements, managing the general ledger, monitoring accounts receivable and payable, and supporting cash flow management. Additionally, the Junior Accountant will assist in tax planning and compliance and support special financial projects. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to work effectively under deadlines.
Who is Right for the Job?
The ideal candidate for the Junior Accountant position at Braden Equities Inc. will have a solid foundation in accounting, with 1-3 years of experience, preferably in the property management or real estate industry. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly preferred. The candidate should have an understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and experience with accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, or Buildium. However, experience with property management software is not necessary.
Success in this role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a high degree of organizational ability, and meticulous attention to detail. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and capable of developing and maintaining financial models. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively collaborating with team members and external parties.

Familiarity with property management operations, financial modeling, and advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and macros, will be advantageous.

Position Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify and explain discrepancies between actual results and budgeted figures.
- Assist in developing and maintaining financial models for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements for multiple properties.
- General Ledger Management:
- Assist in managing the general ledger, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions.
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Accounts Receivable and Payable:
- Assist in monitoring and managing accounts receivable and payable processes.
- Reconcile tenant/owner accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with property managers to ensure timely collection of rents/condominium fees and payment of invoices.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Assist in implementing and maintaining robust internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, financial regulations, and tax requirements.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations to external auditors.
- Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity to ensure sufficient funds for operations and investments.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and recommend actions to optimize cash management.
- Tax Planning and Compliance:
- Assist in preparing and reviewing tax filings, including property taxes, sales taxes, and income taxes.
- Assist in the preparation of tax returns and coordinate with external tax advisors.
- Team Support and Development:
- Provide support and mentorship to other accounting staff as needed.
- Assist in training new team members and promoting continuous professional development within the team.
- Special Projects:
- Participate in special projects as assigned, including system implementations, process improvements, and financial analysis for potential acquisitions or disposals.
Skills, Knowledge, and Proficiencies
- 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the property management or real estate industry.
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of GAAP and experience with financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, Buildium) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
