In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, reconciling, and inputting journal entries related to cash receipts and disbursements Acting as a trusted advisor ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and maintaining a strong internal control environment.
Your responsibilities:
Prepare, reconcile, and input journal entries to the General Ledger related to cash receipts and disbursements.
Review and process invoices, employee expenses, grants and contractual payments within required timelines (including monthly, quarterly, semi-annual).
Test, implement, and train on current and new procurement systems related to accounts payable, employee reimbursement, and journal posting.
Support and train WCB-Alberta staff in the use of payment systems, and in understanding WCB Alberta’s expense policies.
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or inquiries for both internal and external clients on an ongoing basis, including refund and stale dated cheques.
Ensure policies and procedures related to employee expense reimbursements are up to date, relevant, and provide clear guidance.
Ensure supporting back-up information is organized and stored in accordance with finance policies.
Review, recommend, and implement changes, efficiencies, and improvements within Accounts Payable and cash receipts and disbursements.
Your experience and skills:
General accounting knowledge which is enhanced by a certificate or diploma in accounting.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a computerized accounts payable environment.
Experience with posting journal entries and working with an ERP system.
Strong working knowledge and application of internal controls related to disbursements.
Ability to interpret, apply and communicate accounting principles and practices related to disbursements.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Experience with PeopleSoft and source-to-pay financial software would be an asset.
Ability to learn quickly when faced with problems and ambiguity.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Highly effective time management, prioritization and organizational skills in order to deal with a large volume of data, critical time sensitive information and shifting priorities.
Well-developed interpersonal and customer service skills.

Salary: $56,552.00 to $62,802.00 per annum (Pay Grade 7)
This position is temporary for one year with the possibility of extension or permanency. Successful candidates must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person in our Edmonton downtown office. Final candidates for this position are required to undergo a security clearance and credit check as a condition of employment.
