MetCap Living Management Inc. has an immediate opening for a Payroll Specialist at our Downtown Toronto office.
Reporting to the Payroll and Benefits Manager, the ideal candidate will have experience with payroll processing, be detailed and have strong customer service and communication skills. Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of multi-provincial payroll for approx. 500 hourly and salaried employees. The candidate will be deadline-oriented with the ability to work well under tight deadlines, a team player with a positive attitude, and a quick learner.
Qualifications:

PCP Certification

Payworks experience an asset
-
5+ years experience with full cycle, end to end payroll processing

Demonstrated knowledge of payroll and processing procedures

Excellent time management skills and attention to detail

Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment

Effective communication skills

Passing of criminal background check required

Strong work ethic with a positive attitude

Good data entry and computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage timesheets/timekeeping; review files for payroll processing to ensure accuracy and hours are approved by managers

Maintain employee files and profiles, ensuring they are up to date and changes are reflected in payroll system

Review payroll documentation for accuracy making any necessary adjustments and obtaining approvals if necessary

Prepare and ensure timely processing of journal entries

Track and deduct all garnishments, union deductions and other special payroll deductions as well as subsequent remittances

Preparation of ad-hoc requests: employment verifications and letters, workers' compensation, etc.

Maintain and track employee payroll allocations, ensuring hours are categorized and allocated to the correct cost centers

Responsible for filing/scanning all necessary payroll files and documents

Assist with the reconciliation of payroll summaries, remittances, vacation payouts and group benefit administration

Respond to external and employee payroll concerns or inquiries accurately and quickly

Create internal and ad-hoc reports from the payroll system when required

Perform other duties as assigned
