We are looking for a
detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. This role is key to maintaining accurate financial records and managing a variety of accounting tasks using both manual and computerized systems.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain financial records and manage various accounts using both manual and computerized bookkeeping systems.
- Post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and prepare trial balances.
- Maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements.
- Calculate and prepare cheques for payroll, utilities, taxes, and other payments.
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
- Complete and submit tax remittances, workers' compensation, pension contributions, and other government documents.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
- Generate various statistical, financial, and accounting reports.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and monitor expenses.
- Reconcile bank statements and oversee cash flow management.
- Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation to external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax regulations.
- Assist in tax return preparation and other personal bookkeeping services for key executives.
- Provide support for the preparation of forecasts and financial projections.
- Monitor and report on the company's financial health and cash position.
- Liaise with vendors and suppliers regarding payment terms and invoice discrepancies.
- Completion of secondary school.
- A college diploma in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field, or progress in a recognized professional accounting program (e.g., Chartered Accounting, Certified General Accounting).
- Several years of experience as a bookkeeper or financial/accounting clerk.
- Proficiency in accounting software and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
