St. Joseph Communications is Canada’s largest privately owned communications company with three integrated platforms in Content, Print and Media. We are looking for an energetic and professional Accounts Recievable Manager to join our team.
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounts Receivable Manager oversees activities within the Accounts Receivable, Billing and Credit/Collections functions. This role ensures that customers pay their accounts on time to effectively strengthen the company’s financial position with a team of four direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable Management
- Supports sales efforts while maintaining the highest quality of accounts receivable within the company’s framework for risk
- Leads, motivates and guides the billing, credit & collections, and A/R team
- Oversees all accounts receivable systems including customer records, receivable reporting, bank deposits, billing schedules, invoicing, A/R subledger accounting, credit controls, miscellaneous billings, system process improvements and maintenance
- Covers cash app function
Credit & Collections
- Approves new customers, assesses customer credit references and grants credit terms and limits
- Reviews accounts receivable daily, makes decisions/recommendations based on customer status
- Supervises collections specialist and takes action to collect on clients who are past due, resolves customer disputes and payment issues, engages collection agency to settle uncollectible accounts
Client Billing & Receipts
- Manages two billing coordinators to ensure invoicing is completed on a timely and accurate basis.
- Responsible for maintenance of AR systems and training (Netsuite and Naviga)
- Supervises accounts receivable coordinator including payment applications, managing bank deposits, credit card processing, and other payment methods
- Continuously searches for opportunities to improve AR processes and reduce rework/manual work.
- Supports Billing Specialist in using online portals for billing (Ariba, Feildglass, Uber and others)
Management Reporting
- Provides reports for management including weekly cash and A/R aging reports, and keeps leaders informed of emerging risks with clients
- Ensures the A/R corporate policies, procedures and financial internal controls are followed, responding to audit requests
- Develops relationships with sales, order entry, finance and other stakeholders responding to queries and other tasks as required
- Provides support to AR staff and finance associates, assists with any other duties or special projects assigned by management
We're looking for someone with:
- 5+ years’ experience leading a team in the accounts receivable and/or related area
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to influence stakeholders
- Experience with computer software programs & online portals (Ariba, Netsuite or Naviga experience an asset)
- Proven ability to work independently, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Enthusiastic, well-organized, with a strong work ethic and positive team attitude
