JOB MISSION:
- The Senior Financial Analyst will work with the Canada Finance Team and play a vital role in performing full cycle accounting functions and analyzing key operational reports. The role will support month-end close, forecast and budgeting, reporting and balance sheet reconciliations for general ledger accounts as assigned. The role reports to the Assistant Financial Controller on our Canada Finance Team
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Accounting Close: Manage monthly journal entries, GL account reconciliations, and year-end close processes, including adjustments and corrections.
- Inventory Management: Handle inventory reconciliations and reserves and resolve discrepancies.
- PPV Analysis: Conduct Purchase Price Variance analysis, including duties, freight, and warehouse costs
- Intercompany Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations for intercompany transactions.
- Expense & Variance Analysis: Analyze P&L variances and retail SG&A expenses, providing insights and cost-efficiency recommendations.
- Financial Reporting: Create financial packages, including wholesale and retail performance analysis, and produce detailed sales, gross margin, and payroll reports.
- Forecasting: Manage retail forecasting, collaborating with the Retail finance team to project sales, COGS, SG&A, and key metrics by product line, ensuring accurate financial planning.
- Process Improvements: Design and enhance financial models, streamline processes, and implement best practices for efficiency.
- Ad Hoc Support: Support financial system implementations (D365/Oracle EPM), document processes, and assist with ad hoc assignments.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
- Timeliness and accuracy of the financials.
- Success will be measured by the individual’s ability to complete their responsibilities with tight deadlines and a high level of accuracy. They will also be measure on their ability to add value to the company by providing valuable commentary to the financials.
- The candidate should also be able to identify and resolve more complex problems and apply problem-solving skills in-order to deal with various situations
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
- CPA designation preferred
- 5-8 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting
- High proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office, and database packages; experience with Oracle EPM and Microsoft D365 is preferred.
- Background in the sporting goods or retail industry is an asset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a hybrid work environment.
