Job Overview
We are looking for a meticulous and experienced General Accountant to join our client. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting practices and a deep understanding of financial operations, particularly within the architectural and construction industry. This role is integral to our firm's financial management, ensuring accuracy and contributing to our continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Accounting Tasks: Perform journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and reports.
- Accounts Management: Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring invoices and payments are processed efficiently.
- Payroll Processing: Ensure accurate payroll calculations, including salaries, benefits, and tax deductions.
- Cash Management: Monitor cash flow and support cash management activities.
- Project Collaboration: Work with project managers to track costs and revenues, providing insights through financial analysis.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain adherence to accounting standards and internal policies.
- Budget Preparation: Assist in the creation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Ad Hoc Analysis: Provide financial analysis and reporting as needed.
- Software Maintenance: Coordinate with IT providers to manage accounting software, including setting up new employee accounts.
- Employee Tracking: Manage vacation and PTO tracking, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Expense and Tax Processing: Handle monthly utility expenses, corporate taxes (HST, EHT, ROE, income tax), and ensure all tax filings are compliant.
- Administrative Support: Perform office administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5 years in general accounting, preferably in an architectural or related industry.
- Knowledge: Strong grasp of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Detail-Oriented: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
