Averton is an experienced and award-winning homebuilder, community developer, and construction management company and we’re looking to add a Project Accountant that will bring their expertise and enthusiasm to our dynamic team!
As a Project Accountant at Averton, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining our financial data's accuracy and completeness, adhering to accounting principles. Your responsibilities will include timely filing of government remittances, ensuring compliance, and managing various financial aspects of our construction projects.
This exciting opportunity is located in the vibrant city of Vaughan, Ontario, offering a dynamic in-office work environment where collaboration and team engagement are at the forefront.
As a Project Accountant, your daily responsibilities may include the following:
- Preparation of various reports, including, however not limited to:
- Year-end Working Paper
- Quarterly Budget-to-Actual
- Month-end Accounting Close-out
- Bookkeeping
- Monthly bank reconciliations and daily cashflows; provide regular updates on project cash positions and forecast future cash needs.
- Reconciliation of trust statements provided by legal counsel
- HST filings
- Completing closing procedures; Updating and circulating prepared monthly closing schedules
- Regularly compare actual project expenses against budgeted figures, collaborating with project managers to analyze variances
- Other Accounting Responsibilities
- Acting as the main point of contact for and liaising with the CRA
- Preparing statements of adjustment in collaboration with legal counsel
- Preparing various cost analysis
- Engaging in ad hoc tasks to support the success of the accounting team
You would make an ideal fit as our next Project Accountant if you are able to demonstrate the following on your resume:
- Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA Designation is an asset
- Experience
- Minimum 3+ years demonstrated accounting experience
- Experience with Constellation Homebuilder Newstar Suite and Procore is advantageous
- Skills
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suites, specifically MS Excel
- SQL Database knowledge is an asset
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and prioritization skills
