About Us: Established in 2019, Winmar Kootenay is an IICRC certified property restoration firm with 25+ full time employees. Operating with offices in Cranbrook and Nelson, we specialize in water damage, fire and smoke restoration services, and hazardous materials abatement.
As general contractors, we also specialize in construction, renovations, and demolition.
In this maternity leave position, the Accountant is responsible for maintaining all aspects of our books, including payroll, quarterly GST and WCB filing, payables and receivables, project controls, month end close and reviewing processes to increase reliability and efficiency.
Expectations for the Role
- Process Accounts Payable requests and reconcile Vendor accounts accordingly.
- Issue invoices to customers and reconcile customer accounts accordingly.
- Follow-up with customers on outstanding invoices.
- Appropriately file and store source documents including, but not limited to bills, receipts, statements, and other types of source’s documents.
- Actively monitor the accounting email and respond to any necessary correspondence.
- Calculate and process payroll accordingly user our third party payroll provider.
- Perform Bank and CC reconciliations at the end of each month to ensure financial statements properly reflect bank and CC activity.
- Generate financial reports for Management on an as-need basis.
- Calculate, file, and remit GST that is owed quarterly
- Calculate, file, and remit WCB quarterly
- Frequently monitor cash flow and advise Management as to the liquidity of the Company.
Qualifications
Required Education:
University degree or College Diploma in Accounting from a recognized Canadian Post-Secondary Institution
Required Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
- Good understanding of accounting principles and basic accounting skills
- High level of proficiency with MS Office applications
- Detail oriented and excellent analytical skills
- Ability to proactively identify issues and offer solutions
- Well developed interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating a friendly and courteous attitude towards colleagues
- Preference given to people pursuing a designation
Work Remotely

Pay: $50,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
