Summary
This position is responsible for gathering information, maintaining complete and accurate records, and assisting with routine accounting duties. The Accounts Payable Specialist should possess strong communication and computer skills, and provide prompt, courteous responses to inquiries or complaints from suppliers. To succeed as an Accounts Payable Specialist, you should be committed to providing efficient, reliable support to the accounting team, other departments, and external parties. Precise, consistent work is essential, requiring patience and a willingness to handle and complete one task at a time.
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicates with customers, other department and shop/field personnel and focuses on solutions that consider the impact on others in the organization
- Represents the organization in a professional, positive manner when in contact with customers and suppliers (internal and external) and provides information in a timely manner
- Accurately enters appropriate data into appropriate system and maintains the accuracy of the information in these systems (Posting, Account/System Reconciliation - GL & Supplier, Tool Reports, etc.)
- Accurately prepares documents in a timely fashion, including cheques and/or invoices
- Other duties as assigned
Technical Requirements
- Community college diploma, or previous relevant experience
- Previous experience in the finance/accounting industry would be preferred
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel is required
- Exposure to JD Edwards One World is a definite asset
Business Requirements
- A high degree of accuracy with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure of time constraints
