Reporting to the Payroll and Benefits Supervisor, the Payroll Coordinator plays an important role in ensuring the information is processed on time and with accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains and updates employee payroll records.
- Reviews employee time and attendance records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with payroll regulations, employment standards, and collective agreements.
- Assists in the preparation and administration of bi-weekly payrolls for all company employees, union and salaried.
- Validates wage & overtime payments.
- Assists in the calculation of voluntary & involuntary deductions.
- Provides assorted reports to the management team as requested.
- Records deductions eg cafeteria
- Ensures schedules and/or tables in the system are updated in accordance with any legislation, policies, CBAs, rate changes, etc.
- Assists in year-end payroll processes such as T4s, summaries and other duties as required.
- Collaborates with all departments to ensure pay and personnel records are accurate and up to date and kept confidential.
- Maintains and monitors vacation accruals
- Assist with new enrollment and updated benefit enrollment processing.
- Process monthly benefit payments and audits benefits accordingly on a monthly basis.
- Responds to employee inquiries.
- Work with HR on benefit forms and documents.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiar with payroll systems (Ceridian or ADP preferred).
- Knowledge of income tax forms, health benefit programs, sick pay.
- Experience in processing T4’s, and other end year processing items.
- Good proficiency with MS Office software, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation and/or CPA enrollment is considered an asset.
