Your Opportunity
As a Senior Tax Manager, you will be a vital member of the Tax Team, reporting to the Tax Partners. Leading medium sized client tax engagements to include both public and private companies. You are a detail-oriented, curious individual who can quickly learn and work with minimal supervision.
Your Scope:
- Working closely with a Partner as a senior team member on identifying tax issues and planning opportunities for owner managed businesses;
- Prepare and review federal and provincial income taxes for individuals, corporations and exempt organizations;
- Manage clients' high level personal and corporate tax and GST matters;
- Perform technical research, develop tax planning strategies and make appropriate recommendations;
- Assist the Audit and Assurance department with tax and GST compliance matters as required and identify Tax cross selling/consulting opportunities to existing or potential external clients;
- Provide knowledge and expertise in the areas of Canadian tax issues;
- Supervise and review Canadian personal and corporate tax returns;
- Leading, supervising and assisting in the learning of the completion of corporate restructuring plans;
- Provide Canadian estate planning for high-net-worth clients;
- Manage a portfolio of clients that vary in size and scope and act as the point of contact for internal and external clients;
- Manage risk and financial performance of engagements including billing, collections, and project budgets;
- Build and manage client relationships; advise clients by delivering high quality tax service and advice;
- Participate in market meetings and contribute to market and business activities external to the firm;
- Participating in the coaching and performance management process of the practice by conducting timely performance reviews, providing ongoing feedback and training to develop junior team members;
- Demonstrated the ability to identify tax consulting opportunities and a willingness to aggressively market services to existing and prospective clients.
Your Qualifications:
- A Professional accounting designation (CA, CPA, CGA or CMA)
- Completion of the CICA In-depth I, II and III tax program, or Masters in Tax
- Strong Technical background in a public practice services firm with a further 3-5 years of post-designation experience after the completion of the in-depth, level I, II, III program:
- Significant tax compliance and/or planning experience
- Proficiency in Tax software, Caseware, Excel, and Word
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, capable of multitasking various tasks, projects, and strategic improvement initiatives
