We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Part-Time Accountant to join our team for 2-3 days per week. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of accounting experience and a strong ability to handle core accounting tasks such as HST/GST remittances, payroll, and profit & loss analysis. This role is essential in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely reporting, and assisting with key financial processes. The position is based in Toronto and offers a flexible, hybrid work environment and this person will work closely with the Financial Controller who is based in Ireland.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
- Process monthly/quarterly HST/GST remittances (Canada and Ireland) and ensure timely filing
- Payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely disbursements
- Reconcile bank statements, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies promptly
- Prepare and manage cash flow statements
- Prepare and deliver monthly profit & loss statements in conjunction with Financial Controller
- Assist with month-end close processes and ensure that financial data is reported accurately and in compliance with accounting standards
- Collaborate with the Ireland-based accounting team to ensure consistent financial reporting across regions
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies
- Enter client billings into the applicable system
- Processing annual T4s
Key Requirements:
- Minimum is a part-qualified accountant
- 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Experience with payroll processing and remittance, including HST/GST filings
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, etc.)
- Excellent Excel skills and Microsoft Office proficiency
- Based in Toronto with the ability to travel for hybrid work
