Job Description:
Gilic Investment Inc. is an innovative real estate firm based in Vancouver, Canada. This diverse company is vertically integrated with in-house departments responsible for execution of the company’s activities including real estate investment, property development, as well as leasing, sales and marketing.
The Company is looking for a Accounting Controller to report directly to the Owner/ General Manager. Monitor and manage the accounting and financial operation of the group.
1. Qualification and Requirements
- Minimum 5-year progressive accounting and finance experience in Real Estate/ Property Management Accounting, including managerial roles
- Strong financial analytical and problem-solving skills to provide accurate information and solution to management
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with effective communication abilities with departments and owner/ management to driving and achieving company’s set KPI
- Attention to detail in managing annual budget, costs and revenue of the company
- Well-organized mindset, able to work under pressure and manage tight timeline
- Proactive in verbal and written communication abilities in reporting financial and operational problems to Owner and management in a timely manner
- Proactive in learning and updating knowledge of accounting standard, taxation, and legislation
- High proficiency in accounting technical, taxation and companies ordinance knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with other accounting & financial systems. Experience in SAGE is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance. CPA or MBA preferred
- Travel as required
2. Duties and Responsibilities:
As the Company's Accounting Controller, the duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Providing Owner/ management with accurate financial information (financial planning, forecasts, detailed monthly, semiannual and annual financial report) vital to the decision- making process
- Prepare MD&A for financial statements, analyze and interpret financial performance for Owner and management;
- Lead KPI setting and monitor operation and leasing improvement
- Lead and evaluate M&A opportunities and investment projects
- Prepare, review and monitor properties’ budgets including leasing cash flow projection and property management expenses control;
- Manage the accounting operations and policies including review and supervise entry of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax, month-end closing, consolidation report, annual budget and statutory reporting;
- Improve and monitor internal controls of the company by developing, implementing, maintaining, and ensuring compliance on sound accounting, and business process policies and procedures to prevent/ solve internal operational problems;
- Manage and coordinate in tax compliance and planning, manage and comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filing;
- Liaise with Tax consultants, analyze tax treatment and provide strategic solutions for Owner and management;
- Manage Company Restructuring of companies and maintain Company Register and update legal file folders;
- Maintain the Schedule of Value for Company’s Reorganization and update summary periodically;
- Evaluate financing alternatives for capital asset purchases and developments;
- Hiring, training, supervising and motivating accounting team to be more efficient
- Business Trips are required
