Job Summary:
Established in 1954, Berry and Smith Trucking is a Family Owned and Operated transportation company providing class leading transportation services to our customers throughout North America. We’re seeking an experienced assistant controller to support our Finance division in our Penticton location.
Responsibilities:
-Coordinate Payroll, benefit plan and government remittances.
-Ensures compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations.
-Prepare and process bi-weekly salary, hourly and driver payroll.
-Accounts receivable, collections and customer relations.
-Daily cheque and EFT bank deposits.
-Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
-Accounts payables.
-Reconcile general ledger accounts.
-Good understanding of journal entries for monthly expensing, prepaid and depreciation of assets.
-Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements.
-Work with other members of the finance and management teams.
-All other duties as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:
-Minimum of 3 years of corporate accounting.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-Excellent critical thinking skills.
-Highly skilled in math, accounting and financial processes.
-Detail oriented and highly organized.
-Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
-Knowledge and experience with accounting programs.
-Solid understanding of the Federal Labour Standards.
-Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
-Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with personnel at all levels of the organization.
-A professional with a good attitude and team building skills.
-Experience in and knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
-Ability to follow the policies and procedures of Berry & Smith Trucking Ltd., including Criminal Record Check and Drug and Alcohol policy.
-Preparedness to work on a six-month probation period.
-Sound health and satisfactory results from a doctor’s and/nurses medical.
