What will you work on?
Reporting to the VP, Global Taxation, the Senior Manager, Taxation has responsibility for the review of the Company’s transfer pricing calculations, preparation of the Canadian and US corporate Income tax returns, preparation of quarterly and annual Income tax provision and managing the corporate Income tax payments and monthly Canadian/US sales tax returns. The Senior Manager, Taxation is a key contributor to the Toronto Finance Team and independently performs the following responsibilities:
How will you create impact?
Transfer Pricing (“TP”):
- Review of the Transfer Pricing calculations on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Manage Transfer Pricing Audits
- Review and update transfer pricing agreements.
- Ensure compliance with the Transfer Pricing policies and procedures.
Corporate Income Tax Returns preparation and Tax Payments:
- Collect data for preparation of the Canadian and US corporate Income tax returns and prepare the Canadian and the US federal and state corporate Income tax returns.
- Calculate and process the required monthly and quarterly Canadian and US Income tax payments.
- Review of the tax returns prepared by external accountants globally.
Quarterly Income Tax Provision:
- Collect data and prepare the detailed quarterly Canadian and US Income tax provision calculations.
- Prepare on a quarterly basis the global tax analysis and calculations.
- Review and consolidate the tax provision calculations received globally.
- Prepare tax notes for the quarterly accounts and various Income tax reconciliations of global income tax payable and deferred taxes.
- Calculate the tax data required for reporting in the financial statements.
- Manage and coordinate with the Accounting team the reporting of tax data in the quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Manage audits of the quarterly tax provision and respond to the queries of the external auditors.
Other:
- Review and manage the income tax payment requests received globally.
- Review data and respond to the queries of federal and state tax authorities re Income and sales taxes.
- Supervise preparation of the surplus calculations.
- Supervise preparation of withholding tax returns, sales tax returns and other tax returns required in the U.S. and Canada.
What are your skills and experience?
- Relevant experience with a professional accounting firm and/or global organization with tax presence in multiple jurisdictions. Candidates are required to have the experience in Canadian taxation and the preparation of the Canadian corporate income tax returns. Candidates with additional experience in the US taxation and preparation of US corporate income tax returns will be preferred.
- An accounting designation or master’s in taxation is required.
- Excellent computer skills including expertise with Microsoft Excel, specialized tax software and familiarity with the ERP system(s)
