As Controller you will play a pivotal role in shaping our company as we continue to lead the way in adult sports innovation. You will be working directly with the Brodie C Suite of executives to organize finances, all while carving out a seat on the ground floor on one of the hottest brands in basketball.
As Controller you are organized, calm under pressure, and the right hand for the Brodie C Suite. This is a full time role that will report to the COO in person in Toronto.

Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, management reports, and other financial documentation as required by senior management.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize financial performance. Provide regular financial updates through monthly and quarterly reports, maintaining a Rolling Forecast to year-end.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow, manage liquidity, and ensure the organization has adequate funding for its operations and growth.
- Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and financial reporting standards. Maintain systems, processes, and compliance requirements to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, including variance analysis, cost-benefit analysis, financial modeling, and scenario analysis for future fiscals.
- Systems Improvement: Continuously assess and improve financial systems, processes, and policies to increase efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with the CEO and Leadership Team to develop and implement financial infrastructure systems designed to enable strategic growth objectives.
- Payroll: Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis for full time and part time employees using ADP.
Qualifications
- Recognized Canadian accounting designation (CPA) mandatory; a master’s degree in business administration, financial management or accounting is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role with a high-growth organization.
- Experience with government grant reporting an asset.
- Stellar reputation for integrity and ethical conduct.
- Strong judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong team leadership skills and demonstrated initiative and responsiveness; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers and work across cross-functional and diverse teams; demonstrated past experience of managing direct reports.
- Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
Salary Range: $100,000 CAD per annum

Hybrid Work Model
