Position Summary
We currently have an opening available for an Interline Payable Specialist at Surrey, BC location. The position provides financial, clerical and administrative support to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing for accounts payable. This position is an important support role in the accounting department and in meeting head office requirements. The company will provide training and ongoing support to ensure success in your role.
Position Requirements
· Audit Interline carriers invoices
· Audit Driver Pays trip sheets and charges
· Daily & Monthly Interline Payables related functions
· Audit, Process/Coding, enter Interline and Driver Pay Invoices
· Prepare weekly cheque runs
· Reconcile Interline & Driver Pay statements
· Research and resolve Interline charge discrepancies
· Process AP & other payable payments as needed
· Process Interliner Payables and Driver Pays
· Communicate with carriers, drivers, vendors, and other terminals via phone, email, and mails
· Backup for other Accounting duties including Accounts Receivable duties
· Assist with month-end closing
· Assist with creating/refining processes
· Assist accounting manager to plan and organize, supervise the work activities of the team members
· Within the company’s goal of continuous improvement, provides a positive environment of learning
· Helps to identifies any workflow problems for review by the manager and helps develop and implement appropriate solutions
Experience and Qualifications
· High School diploma and completion of an accounting diploma or equivalent experience
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting field
· Experience in the Transportation industry would be an asset
· Data entry and strong keyboard skills
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications especially MS Excel skills
· Positive, self-motivated, self-starter and analytical attitude.
· Ability to manage in a multi-currency environment
· Multi-tasking and time-management skills while working with daily deadlines
· Work well under pressure
· Interprets standard operating procedures and practices and identifies workflow inefficiencies for improvement; problem solving skills
· Previous experience in transportation industry is an asset
