What you will do:
Gain a solid understanding of the Capitalization Policy, knowledge of Intangibles, capitalized interest, project allocations and Contributions in Aid of Construction (CIAC) requirements, as well as a broad understanding of accounting concepts impacting other departments to complete tasks and advise and guide stakeholders.
Review and process stakeholder requests, ask questions and collaborate with teammates to support our stakeholders.
Provide informal coaching and direction to team members.
Participate in projects or initiatives that impact the larger team and other departments.
Proactively monitor our systems, processes and our partners to identify triggers that require our actions.
Understands and can communicate the business reasons and/or the “why” behind assignments and conclusions reached.
Performs self-review to ensure balances agree to supporting documentation, schedules and formulas are mathematically accurate, variances are properly documented, and judgments are sound and properly supported.
Accountable for internal control activities. Understands the Sox controls impacting tasks and ensuring that controls are in place and being followed.
Maintain a continuous improvement and continuous learning approach and work with the people leader to proactively pursue system and process changes where warranted.
Exercise professional skepticism in methodology and purpose of assignments as well as in analysis performed during assignments.
Who you are:
You have the following education and experience:
You have related University Degree and professional designation.
You have minimum of 4 years of directly related experience.
Maintain a sound understanding of Enbridge’s GDS business unit and regulatory environment.
CPA or working towards a designation preferred but not required.
Possess in-depth financial software skills (excel) and accounting system/ERP software skills (Oracle, SAP, etc.)
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and organized manner based on the targeted level within the company.
