Accountability
This position reports directly to: Director, Finance
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze the agency’s monthly financial information comparing actual results to budget, and develop variance explanations highlighting areas of concern to the Director, Finance.
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis including payables, accruals, and receivables.
- Identify financial errors and develop recommendations for corrective actions.
- Assist in the preparation of Quarterly, Interim, and Annual filing requirements for various funding sources.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial forecasts and other reports.
- Prepare and file the GST/PST monthly returns and other statutory and regulatory required filings.
- Assist with financial audits and the preparation of the organization’s tax returns.
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
- Prepare full cycle accounting records and entries for the Youthdale Foundation.
- Identify financial requirements associated with each funding source and work with the finance team and/or program management as necessary to ensure compliance is met.
- Produce various ad hoc accounting reports as required.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director, Finance.

- Foster positive interpersonal relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, residents, visitors, outside agencies, government officials and related professional associations.
- Maintain and adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
- Attends work consistent with Director, Finance hybrid work requirements.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related field such as Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, etc.
- An accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA) completed or in progress is preferred.
- Five (5) years in progressive experience within an accounting or finance role.
- Experience in not-for-profit organizations, mental health, or healthcare considered an asset.
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Suite (Excel, Word).
- Experience using accounting software (Sage, or other).
- Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines.
- High level of critical and logical thinking/reasoning to identify underlying issues, trends.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Excellent time-management and analytical skills with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast pace, community environment.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all aspects of work.
- A solid understanding of the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion and a passion for
promoting and increasing initiatives within the workplace.
