Opportunity:
As the Corporate Accountant you will play a key role in managing the full cycle financial activities of our organization including the compilation of consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our success and grow your career in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Director of Finance you will be a key partner in developing and maintaining processes, controls and procedures of the Accounting department. The role involves communicating with cross-departmental teams and is about solving problems.
Salary: $70K ~ $80K CAD
What You'll Do:
- Handle full cycle accounting activities including accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, banking, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Assist in timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial close and reporting process
- Prepare supporting files for accounting transactions, and demonstrate strong technical knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS, US-GAAP)
- Contribute to a top tier team that proactively drives continuous improvement and works with a collaborative mentality
- Assistance with initiatives that contribute to the objective of building out the accounting team technology stack, specifically ERP, revenue and payroll systems, and future implementations
- Preparation of working files supporting corporate operating expenses including transactions related to G&A, legal, corporate loans, intercompany, and other accruals
- Ensure a strong controls environment and fiscal integrity of the company's business through the enhancement and management of accounting systems and controls
- Support month-end and year-end close processes. Assist with external review/audit process as necessary
- Assist with special projects and ad-hoc requests as needed
Qualifications - What you bring to the team:
- 3 years of progressive experience in full cycle and/or public accounting
- BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Proficient in accounting software and MS Excel
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations (US GAAP, IFRS)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven track record of managing several priorities
- Self-motivated, passionate and deadline driven
Preferred Skills:
- CPA designation or working towards it is an asset
- Experience with QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or other ERP systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Prior experience in a similar role and start-up environment
