How you will make a difference:
The Lease Accounting Clerk is responsible for performing financial and administrative functions that ensure accurate reporting of occupancy and other related costs for Canadian retail stores. This role will be part of the Lease Management team, which manages leases for over 8700 stores in Canada and the USA. The position reports to the Leasing Supervisor and is responsible for processing rent payments and reconciling rent accounts with landlords. The role ensures that rent payment is accurate and rent account is up to date.
What You’ll Do:
· Maintain an accurate monthly rent schedule by reviewing and processing all payment and vendor changes in a timely manner.
· Reconcile data from the accounting system with the rent worksheets.
· Update the legal and operational terms and provisions of the rent payment according to landlord’s rental notices and Lease Agreements.
· Calculate monthly rent payable with all related information reports
· Track and follow up with Landlords on year-end adjustments for the stores.
· Update accounting system for rental notices, year -end adjustments, and CAP invoices.
· Receive, verify and reconcile statement of accounts from landlords with our accounting records.
· Communicate with landlords for all accounting issues and reconciliations.
· Prepare other rent-related reports per management’s requirements from time to time.
What You’ll Need:
· Post-secondary education in a related field.
· 3 years of experience in an Accounting and/or Leasing position.
· Proficient in MS Office with intermediate or higher skill level in Excel.
· Experience using lease administration database software.
· Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
· Ability to communicate with landlords effectively.
· Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Lawson ERP knowledge is an asset.
