Job Summary
Viacore Head office is looking for a Cost Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Corporate Controller and as an integral part of the financial team, the Cost Accountant will be responsible for proper and accurate costing and prepare and analyze gross margins on a monthly basis. Besides cost accounting related functions, this position will be fully implicated in period end closing and reporting including but not limited to commission calculation, account reconciliations, annual audit, and other ad hoc projects requiring cost accounting and other finance support.
Main Responsibilities:
- Be a key resource person on costing and margin for the Finance/Accounting Team.
- Liaise with Operations and Supply Chain staff on inventory costing questions and issues.
- Perform inventory costing and gross margin analysis regularly and at period ends.
- Investigate and resolve costing and gross margin variance.
- Review/validate revenue recognition, percentage completion analysis and accrual/deferral entries.
- Assist with monthly intercompany transactions and eliminations.
- Active participation in period end closing procedures including journal entries, account reconciliation, review, and analysis, financial statement preparation and management reporting.
- Perform monthly salesman and operations staff commission and bonus calculation.
- Perform and govern major supplier and customer rebate calculation and program.
- Compile, review and validate financial data, statistics, accounts, and KPI analysis for operational decision, planning, and budgeting/forecast purposes.
- Assist with continuous improvement on internal control.
- Assist with other tasks directed by the Assistant Controller and Corporate Controller.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Proficiency/Advanced user in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook
- Proficiency in Oracle Netsuite a major plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Designated or near designated CPA.
- Sharp analytical skills.
- Ability to handle stress and tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A true team player and self-initiate and motivate.
- Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive information with tact and discretion.
