What you will do:
The Payroll Coordinator will support all payroll related functions for the organization. This role performs all payroll activities for hourly employees inclusive of contract, intern and co-op positions. The role encompasses cyclical processes inclusive of processing bi-weekly payrolls along with managing administrative legislative and organizational requirements.
This is a hybrid position (3 days in the office per week). Office location is 1303 Yonge Street, Toronto.
Key Responsibilities

Enter, process and balance bi-weekly earnings and adjustments; Process and balance payroll expenses, deductions, and adjustments based on best payroll practices to ensure employees are accurately and consistently paid.

Review time-entry validation and other payroll reports to verify accuracy of time-entry and resulting pay implications; follow-up to ensure accurate and complete payroll entries.

Generate payroll journals, manage and remit withholding orders; prepare and enter adjustments in system to correct employee records; maintain company and payroll records for future audit purposes.

Explain payroll entry policies and procedures; research and respond to inquiries from management, HR, employees and third parties based on established practices.

Provide input and support for payroll projects, maintain documentation of payroll processes and procedures, recommend improvements, and provide administration support to benefits and HRIS as required.
Education & Certification
-
Post-secondary education with focus on Payroll administration and/or Accounting.

Canadian Payroll Association, PCP designation or working towards it.
Experience
-
General knowledge of Canadian employment law, payroll legislation, and accounting principles.

Experience with Workday Payroll or other payroll systems

1-2 years of hands-on experience in full cycle payroll processing including time and attendance tracking.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong customer service, verbal communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Word and Outlook.

Must be proficient in Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Table etc.).

Superb attention to detail and accuracy.

Listening skills to resolve payroll related issues.
