Job Summary:
Tootsie Roll of Canada ULC, the manufacturer of Dubble Bubble gum and other fine candy products, has an opening for a Cost Accountant, in Concord Ontario. This position's key responsibility includes financial analysis, cost management, operational reporting, process improvement, business partnering, inventory management, capital analysis, compliance and controls and other tasks and duties.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain standard costs (bill of materials and routings).
- Develop new item costings and work with various departments to understand needs, impacts of various elements and provide guidance.
- Conduct in-depth analysis to support decision-making, including variance analysis, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
- Monitor and analyze costs to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas of opportunity within operations/supply chain.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators to track operational performance and provide regular reporting to management.
- Be trained and able to cover other tasks and roles in the department, as and when needed.
- Capital expenditure evaluation and reporting.
- Provide reports to various departments on a regular basis related to variances, labour hours, downtime, efficiency, labour costs, line time usage, volumes, material usage etc.
- Analyze costs, projections and participate in the budgeting process.
- Participate and perform duties that are required for inventory management, auditing and reporting.
- Perform month end tasks, and preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual reports and statements
- Validate data and ensure accuracy of data, data analysis and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with the financial policies and procedures, as well as working with department(s) to ensure regulatory requirements and internal control practices are being followed.
- Lead tasks and/or support Controller & Accounts Payable Coordinator, with preparation of financial statements, payroll, reconciliations, audits, entries, payments and transfers, and other reports, as and when assigned.
- Lead and / or support projects and tasks within and outside the department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Qualification
- The preferred candidate will be a CPA and have a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing / plant cost accounting experience, preferably in Food / Beverage industry.
- Experience dealing with multiple currencies is a requirement of the position.
- The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and will have experience working with an ERP system such as Oracle or SAP.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required along with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Strong organizational and time management skills. Self-starter who works well with limited supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Superior skills in data analysis, reporting and presentation.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $80,000.00-$105,000.00 per year
