Overview:
The Corporate Tax Processing Leader, West (CPO Leader) manages the process and tasks required to making life less taxing for FBC’s Members. The CPO Leader oversees the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements as well as corporate tax returns. The CPO Leader will build and manage a team, coordinate and delegate work, and troubleshoot and manage bottle necks in the process. The CPO Leader is committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency from their team. The CPO Leader will collaborate with branch teams across the company to create a positive experience for Members.
The CPO Leader role is well suited to someone who is a responsible, independent thinker, and who demonstrates sound judgment, decision making and leadership abilities. This individual is driven, proactive and influential. The CPO Leader is technically focused, confident in their abilities, and able to build and nurture a strong team and customer service environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Recruit, hire and develop a productive CPO team, when applicable

Collaborate with the Corporate Tax Processing Leader, East to ensure product consistency

Take charge of the CPO team and activities including:

Following a process and plan for preparation of financial statements and corporate tax returns.

Tracking CPO metrics including turn-around times, processing stats, and service quality
-
Taking action to deliver exceptional service and to stay on plan
-
Coordinate processing of financial statements/corporate tax returns with local offices
-
Ensure accuracy and quality standards
-
Engage, delegate to, develop, coach, and manage the CPO team and branch staff involved in to ensure quality and productivity goals are achieved

Troubleshoot errors and collaborate with other departments to resolve them
-
Maintain expert knowledge of T2, T1 tax and the FBC data base including all software applications required to do the work

Maintain a strong knowledge base regarding bookkeeping, financial statements, and corporate tax returns

Test software updates as required to confirm that they function properly with no errors

Continuously look for ways to improve standards and processes

Strive to be knowledgeable about issues, policies, practices, and trends

Assist Local Tax Consultants with technical issues

Assist with the CPO team’s day to day tasks in addition to managing the team

Collaborate with branch team leaders to meet quality standards and turn-around times
-
Other duties, relevant to the position, may be assigned as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
-
A post-secondary diploma in accounting, tax or related field or equivalent experience
-
Strong working knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office
-
Working knowledge of Tax Prep.

Previous experience in bookkeeping, financial statements and corporate tax returns
-
3+ years of supervisory experience would be considered an asset

Possess strong bookkeeping, financial statement preparation and T2(Corporate)/T1 tax knowledge

Familiar with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requirements, guidelines and services

Able to review and interpret tax returns and related documents

Highly detail-oriented and organized

Proficient at prioritizing and managing work and capable of adapting to shifting demands

Computer skills including MS Office and databases

Researching skills on tax related matters

Able to troubleshoot and problem solve as necessary
