What you’ll do
As a Disbursement Analyst, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial transactions of Jumpstart. You will be responsible for providing day to day disbursement accounting and support to the Jumpstart team. You must have the ability to work independently as well as liaise with Jumpstart team members, grantee organizations, and other payees.
Review and verify all invoices for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to relevant accounting principles and organizational policies. Provide timely and accurate processing of invoices and data upload of disbursement transactions.
Ensure system exceptions and discrepancies related to disbursements are resolved on a timely basis. Conduct reconciliations between grant management and financial system and prepare weekly payment and cheque reconciliations.
Collaborate and ensure timely response to internal and external grant related inquiries and liaise with the Operations staff to gain appropriate approvals.
Analyze disbursement trends and provide variance analysis by Chapter, Provincially, Nationally, and by program type on a regular basis. Provide timely and accurate reporting of disbursements on a monthly and ad hoc basis.
Assist in month-end closing activities, quarterly reporting, forecasting, year-end audit, and other projects with necessary reports and documentation as required.
What you bring
Degree in Accounting or Finance or similar related area
Proven experience in an accounting, financial reporting, analysis, or similar role.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, financial controls, and best practices.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data accurately.
Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications with advanced Excel skills is required.
Strong written and verbal communications skills to interact effectively with internal stakeholders.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and planning skills.
Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and provide high level performance while adapting to changing requirements and scaling up of operations.
