WHO WE ARE
q̓ic̓əy̓… land of the moss
We are traditional hənq̓əmínəm̓-speaking people with a strong and growing community of 614 members, most of whom live in our traditional territory. At its center is sq̓ə́yc̓əyaʔɬ x̌acaʔ (the lake of the Katzie), now Pitt Lake, extending to present-day Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, Surrey, Langley, and Delta. We trace our origins to our Ancestor θéləctən, placed in q̓ic̓əy̓ by Swaneset, who shaped the land and waters. Despite the impacts of residential schools and colonial policies, we continue to celebrate and practice the knowledge and traditions of our Ancestors.
THE EARLY YEARS CENTRE
Our Early Years Centre supports our community by offering quality daycare, pre-school, before and after school care, and Headstart programs. These services ensure that our children receive excellent early education and care, helping to preserve and strengthen our traditions and knowledge while supporting the needs of our growing community.
