Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible and accountable for smooth and accurate processing of MLF Payroll including related daily, weekly, monthly and yearly tasks. This role is onsite.

What you will be doing:
- Process weekly payroll for MLF unionized and non-unionized employees.
- Perform accurate and timely time and attendance review in Kronos and edits for all MLF union and non-union employees.
- Audit and validate new hires, termination and other changes processed by HR in ADP.
- Assist with any year-end adjustments / Annual preparation of T4s for weekly and bi-weekly payrolls.
- Process off-cycle payments for Vacation Payouts.
- Assists supervisors and managers on Kronos T&A inquiries.
- Maintain and update weekly, monthly, and yearly Payroll spreadsheets, and reviews, edits and prints a variety of Payroll reports.
- Process GL.
- Review new hires, terminations, changes for the next payroll cycle including set up of employees in Time & attendance system & accruals for a variety of employees.
- Process Records of Employment (ROEs) that require more advanced knowledge.
- Cross-training on other tasks in department as assigned to ensure coverage for vacations and other absences.
- Provides backup as needed.
- Performs other related duties or projects as assigned.
- Policies, Processes & Procedures: follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
What you will bring:
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience processing payroll, and sound technical knowledge with in-house payroll processing.
- Some familiarity with Ontario Employment Standards compliance (ESA).
- Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to prioritize and work effectively autonomously with little or no supervision.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential.
- ADP (Workforce Now) experience is an asset. Computer literacy and MS Office proficiency (e.g. MS Excel – intermediate to advanced).
- Post-Secondary Degree in related field.
- University Degree preferred.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation.
