Position Summary Reporting to the Administrator, the full time Director of Finance and Administration has operational function over all aspects of financial management, reporting, working closely with other members of the Senior Management Team to safeguard the organization's finances while overseeing and presenting budgets, accounts, financial statements and Ministry reporting. Education and Experience
- Post-secondary degree in accounting or finance from a University or College program, or equivalent experience
- Professional Certification: CPA, CMA, CGA
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a same or similar role
Duties and Responsibilities
· Ensures financial policies and procedures are in place to continually evaluate best industry practice in alignment with St. Lawrence Lodge's future needs and budget realities
· Directs and co-ordinates Lodges activities concerned with financial administration, general accounting, resident business services and efficient financial and any reporting requirements to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, and /or any other agencies statistical reporting.
· Responsible for monthly preparation of the Lodge’s financial statement and reports for the Committee of Management, Senior Management, and Resident Managers.
· Protection of assets and the overall accuracy and reliability of St. Lawrence Lodge's financial reporting by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls, policies, procedures and practices
· Assist the management team in achieving budget objectives by creating transparent reporting processes, analyzing variances, and assisting managers in adjusting expenditure plans as required.
· Ensures a process for variance analysis for all departments within the Lodge.
· Ensures effective internal controls and risk management strategies are in place to safeguard Lodge assets.
· Leads the process of preparing monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy within the established timelines.
· Coordinate budgeting; oversee financial forecasting, cash flow and preparation for annual audits, as well as taking final responsibility for accurate and well-managed payroll, accounts receivable and payable systems.
· Coordinates yearly financial audit with external auditors
· Supervisor’s employees working in the financial and administrative functions.
