Overview of the Position: The Accounts Receivable (AR) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the Accounts Receivable department to ensure the timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections. This role involves supervising AR staff, optimizing collection processes, and maintaining strong relationships with customers to ensure efficient cash flow and minimal bad debt. The AR Supervisor works closely with other departments to support overall financial operations and contributes to the development and implementation of AR policies and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage timely receivable disputes and perform root cause analysis of overdue accounts, short-payments, holdbacks.
- Proactively monitor and present daily / weekly aging reports and escalate collections as required.
- Communicate any customer concerns or issues through the correct channels.
- Perform credit checks for customers and process new customer credit applications.
- Post AR invoices/customer receipts/ credit memos in the accounting system.
- Oversee customer credit limits, and payment terms and discuss with management when revision is required.
- Proactively deal with other departments to resolve any customer issues promptly.
- Participate in the preparation and review of working papers for monthly close, and annual audit.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Hold a university degree or diploma, in Accounting or a related discipline
- 2 years of experience in an AR Supervision role for a large retail organization with several locations
- Hold a CPA designation or working towards obtaining a CPA designation would be an asset, but is not required
- A strong understanding of AR policies & procedures
- Detail-oriented, with extraordinary organization and multitasking skills
- Exceptional problem-solving ability, and works well to meet deadlines under pressure
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs – Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (ex. Pivot Tables, Macros, IF, AND, OR, VLOOKUP) and previous experience using an ERP system is preferred - Epicor ERP would be an asset
