DESCRIPTION
Join Michels Canada as our new Accounts Payable Manager, based out of our Canadian headquarters!
As the AP Manager, you'll be given the exciting challenge of leading our entire accounts payable function. This role involves ensuring seamless processing of invoices, payments, and vendor relationships. More than just managing transactions, you'll be leading a dynamic team of AP specialists, steering them towards our departmental goals directly impacting our organization's financial well-being.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including invoices, payments, and vendor relations.
- Prioritize timely responses to internal and external inquiries, prioritizing a customer-centric approach.
- Develop and lead a compliant team, maintaining financial health and internal controls.
- Optimize payment schedules to enhance cash flow and vendor relations.
- Assist in year-end audit requests.
- Maintain accurate vendor records and assist with month-end closing.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies by collaborating with other departments and vendors.
- Drive continuous departmental improvement through recommendations and process enhancements.
- Contribute to cash flow forecasting.
- Exemplify Michels Canada's culture and core values while leading by fostering trust and effective professional connections
REQUIREMENTS
- Post secondary degree or diploma in finance, accounting or related discipline preferred.
- 5+ Years experience leading or coaching a team
- 5+ years of accounts payable experience with basic accounting principles
- Strong understanding of financial controls in the accounts payable cycle.
- Proficiency with financial software and ERP systems. Experience working with Viewpoint is preferred.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience leading teams in a manager or supervisor level role.
- Effective leadership skills to motivate, manage, train and develop staff and create a positive work environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with vendors and team members across the organization, across all levels.
- Experience in a high-volume invoice environment.
- Ability to drive process improvements and work collaboratively in a team.
- Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven, and an acceptable driving record as determined by Michels Review Team.
LANGUAGES
- Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
