Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is an essential part of the Accounting team and will be responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and the related SOX controls. The Accountant also supports the month end close process by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with company policies and guidelines, and assist with variance and flux analysis.
The ideal candidate will consistently drive for on-time results, effectively organize and prioritize work, seek opportunities to drive improvements in standard work and apply new skills to continuously improve performance.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage Accounts Receivable processes including invoicing customers, applying cash receipts and performing collections activities on outstanding balances
- Manage Accounts Payable processes including processing vendor bills and employee expense reports, and administering cash disbursements
- Maintain and reconcile bank balances daily/weekly
- Prepare account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts and proactively research and resolve variances
- Support the period-end close processes by preparing journal entries, flux/variance analysis and supporting internal and external reporting processes, within established timelines
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure incurred expenses are recorded via vendor bills or accrual journal entries
- Assist in audit processes by gathering requested data and providing context to auditors to support timely completion of audit procedures
- Support the Global Accounting team in enhancing the Company’s existing Accounting Policies and Procedures and seek and implement continuous improvements in standard work
- Operate and monitor financial control procedures to support a strong control environment
- Participate in various cross-functional initiatives to optimize and improve financial systems and processes, including ERP migration and module implementations
- Complete various ad hoc and special projects
Skills/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting or related field; advanced degree or CPA designation valued
- 0-3 years relevant Accounting experience
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and fundamental accounting concepts
- Experience with ERP software (Netsuite highly preferred)
- Detail oriented and strong sense of accountability in meeting committed deadlines and delivering a quality work product
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize appropriately and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
