Who we’re looking for:
Fastfrate Group is looking for a Payroll Supervisor to join our fast-paced team at our Woodbridge, Ontario office. You’ll oversee all aspects of payroll and be responsible for leading a team of Payroll Specialists, day-to-day payroll functions, reviewing and approving payroll, and ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of payroll.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain and process weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payrolls for hourly and salary employees in Canada, union and non-unionized employees
- Payroll data entry; vacation payouts, allowances, increases, retro-active adjustments, verifying and inputting taxable benefits, setting up garnishments and other deductions and preparing ROEs as required
- Import and review time and attendance data (Dayforce) for accuracy and completeness, as well as troubleshoot errors
- Set up and maintain new hires and terminations
- Audit payroll registers prior to transmission
- Process payroll using Ceridian Dayforce Payroll
- Oversee all government reporting and responsible for accurate reporting of payroll liabilities such as employee federal and provincial income taxes, employment insurance, Benefits, etc
- Update electronic employee records and file payroll information in employee files
- Respond to employee and government agency inquiries regarding payroll
- Annual filling and reconciliation of T4s, RL1 and all other programs for provincial and federal remittances
- Provide guidance, direction, and support to employee inquiries related to the Dayforce recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, time off requests, leaves of absence, payroll, and benefits administration
- Assist team in reviewing and developing internal policies and procedures
- Assist in the preparation and auditing of month-end payroll & union remittances
- Administration of the benefit programs
- Create employee documents, including Employment Agreements and employee letters related to compensation or job changes
- Adhere to all procedures and policies, payroll regulations, legislation and standards
- Other duties as assigned
Must Haves:
- Certification in either Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM)
- 3+ years full cycle experience with unionized employees
- Demonstrated Knowledge of federal and provincial payroll regulations, including tax regulations and legal requirements and the ability to stay current on legislation changes
- Experience working with collective agreements
- Excellent attention to detail, data entry, time management and organizational skills
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proactive and strong teamwork approach, good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Able to maintain confidential information and deal with people sensitively and professionally at all times
- Previous Supervisory experience required
