Position Summary
Admin Assistant, Cancer Care
Your goal in this position is to perform as an Administrative Assistant to the Medical Director, Cancer Care, supporting the program at MCC rounds and similar duties and responsibilities. You have excellent organizational and problem solving skills. You also have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. You are able to work independently, and also able to prioritize, multi-task and effectively manage time and balance schedule of Medical Director. You are resourceful and able to adapt in response to program needs. You also have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You have accurate minute taking coordinating and collaborating skills This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, learners, volunteers and families.
On a practical level, you will
- Provide secretarial support to the Medical Director, including support such as clinical practice and administrative duties
- Provide specialized administrative support using demonstrated judgement, initiative and independence to assist the Cancer Program and the Medical Director in achieving program and organizational objectives
- Coordinate efforts across cross functional/program teams to coordination of care
- Effective management and respond to information and/or document requests
- Compile and disseminate material/documents related to programs activities
- Manage confidential information in a sensitive and professional manner
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Standards
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree preferred
- Secretarial Courses or diploma or certificate in Office Administration preferred
- Medical Terminology Course preferred
- Electronic Medical Records experience preferred (Practice Solutions)
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer software, e.g., Word, Excel, Practice Solutions
- Accurate keyboarding, word processing skills - minimum 55 wpm
- Knowledge of office and management principles
- Extensive calendar management experience
- Ability to utilize standard office equipment and order routine supplies
- Knowledge of Surgical terminology an asset

This is a Part-time Regular Position with 8 hour shifts, day shifts in the Cancer Care Program.
