Applications are invited for a Payroll Clerk within the Financial Services Department. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, this position is part of a team that is responsible for all aspects of payroll for both union and non-union municipal workforce, as well as payroll processing for external Service Partners. Weekly duties include processing and/or reporting of: wages, benefits, adjustments, pension programs, payroll liabilities and administration of all associated records and files. The position also plays a key role in the completion of various month-end and year-end responsibilities as well as personnel budget preparation.
Qualifications:
- The Canadian Payroll Association certification - Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP).
- Three (3) year Post-Secondary Diploma in Accounting or acceptable equivalent.
- Four (4) years payroll experience within a computerized payroll accounting system. Experience in municipal government considered an asset.
- Proficient in computerized software applications, Microsoft Office including intermediate Excel and other related report writing applications.
- Working knowledge of all payroll and related legislation (i.e. Employment Insurance Regulations, Ontario Labour Laws, Canada Pension Plans, MFIPPA, etc.).
- A strong analytical and detail-oriented aptitude with a high degree of accuracy while working in a fast paced team environment satisfying tight deadlines and the ability to multi-task to proactively manage competing priorities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- High standards of ethics, professionalism and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.
- Experience with collective agreements and pension plans.
Hours of Work 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)

Hourly Rate: $30.55 per hour
