Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of key accounting principles and regulations (IFRS, ASPE) to develop accurate financial schedules and accounting entries.
- Conduct departmental cost analysis and prepare monthly reports with actionable insights.
- Handle various month-end processes, including journal entries, managing SAP schedules, and clearing CAPEX items.
- Collaborate closely with operations teams to perform detailed manufacturing variance analysis and reporting.
- Deliver data and insights to the Controller, including recommendations for corrective actions and variance forecasting.
- Assist in preparing the annual cost center budgets and monthly estimate processes.
- Reconcile assigned accounts and ensure their accuracy and completeness.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance manufacturing costing processes and other financial workflows.
- Coordinate with global teams to provide financial reporting and analysis as needed.
- Analyze indirect vendor costs and support accounts payable processes.
- Leverage BW, Power BI, advanced Excel, and other tools to perform daily financial analyses.
- Prepare sales tax summaries for CRA and provincial authorities on a regular schedule.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities as they arise.
- Maintain strong knowledge of ASPE standards to support audits, government compliance, and reporting needs.
- Offer technical guidance and occasional support for Accounts Payable processes (approximately 10 hours per week).
- Contribute to year-end external audits and fulfill group audit requirements.
- Complete additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by managers or senior leadership.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the department’s objectives.
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- CPA designation with a Bachelor’s degree in economics or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing finance role.
- Expertise in ASPE accounting principles and cost accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to handle large datasets.
- Strong analytical skills for financial reporting and variance analysis.
- A high standard of integrity and professionalism.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Familiarity with SAP FI-CO and tools like BW or Power BI.
- Experience with IT systems development or start-up activities.
- Ability to create clear, actionable insights from complex data.
