Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will play a critical role in advancing the company’s strategic objectives by optimizing resources, increasing revenue, and ensuring all financial operations align with business needs.
The CFO will be accountable for all aspects of financial management, including planning, budgeting, risk management, and compliance. You will lead the finance team, oversee all financial activities, and contribute to key decision-making processes that impact the company’s future success.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the CEO and leadership team as key business partner to develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company’s growth and profitability goals.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting, ensuring accurate financial reporting for monthly, quarterly, and annual results.
- Manage all accounting functions, including financial statements, variance analysis, and tax filings, ensuring compliance with regulations across Canada, the U.S., and Europe.
- Evaluate, optimize, and recommend business models, including operating expenditure, subscription models, and payment plans, to drive financial performance.
- Allocate resources to optimize operational efficiency and achieve departmental and company-wide objectives.
- Lead financial analysis of new business initiatives, ensuring a clear understanding of return on investment and potential risks.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement process improvements to enhance operational effectiveness across the company.
- Oversee external audits and tax compliance, managing relationships with auditors and ensuring adherence to financial regulations in all jurisdictions.
- Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to the Board of Directors and senior management team.
- Manage payroll, benefits, and tax filings across multiple regions, ensuring compliance with local laws and company policies.
- Oversee the implementation and optimization of financial systems and technologies to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Participate in contract negotiations with customers and vendors, ensuring financial terms are aligned with business objectives.
- Develop and enforce strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent financial mismanagement.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, development, and high performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
- Professional designation such as CPA, CMA, or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles.
- Proven success in financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and reporting.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management in both Canada and the U.S.
- Strategic mindset, with the ability to act as a trusted business partner to senior leadership.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and mentor teams.
- Expertise in financial systems and proficiency with relevant financial software.
