Our client, a leading organization in the non-profit sector dedicated to environmental protection, is seeking a Financial Analyst to join their team! This is a permanent opportunity, on a hybrid schedule (1-2 days per month) based in North York.
Financial Analyst
- The Financial Analyst develops, interprets, and implements financial, budget, and forecasting models. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role involves performing various accounting activities and analyses to support effective business decision-making and performance measurement. The Financial Analyst contributes to the annual Business Plan by exploring scenarios with the Senior Leadership team and uses benchmarking tools.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform complex financial and statistical analyses, preparing reports and recommendations for management.
- Develop and refine financial models, budgets, and cash flow forecasts.
- Liaise with cross-functional teams to exchange and explain financial data.
- Handle month-end/year-end activities, including reconciliations and audit packages.
- Prepare and present accurate financial reports and statements.
- Ensure the integrity of financial reporting and cash flow management.
- Support the annual audit and external financial reporting processes.
- Conduct financial planning and analysis for treasury management.
- Recommend investment strategies and report on cash flow and investment performance.
- Perform ad-hoc analyses and assist with capital management.
- Provide backup support, maintain the accounting system, conduct tax reporting, and train new staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree/Diploma in finance, accounting or economics or equivalent work
- experience
- Professional Designation (CPA) or in the final stages of acquiring
- Over five years of experience
- Regulatory compliance experience considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Ability to independently interpret reported results, follow-up on anomalies and provide analysis of variances
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting and proving analysis
