Overview
The Payroll Clerk/Admin is responsible for managing and processing payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and providing administrative support. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to handle confidential information, and proficiency in payroll software systems such a QuickBooks.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time using systems such as Build Ops, excel and QuickBooks
- Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies or issues and resolve them promptly.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll regulations.
- Ensure compliance with union collective agreements for multi trades
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports as needed for management review.
- Assist with the onboarding process by setting up new hires in the payroll system.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate reporting of employee hours and leave balances using tools like QuickBooks.
- Assist with AR/AP including reconciling invoices, filing and issuing payments
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Proven experience in a payroll processing role or similar position.
- Familiarity with payroll software such as QuickBooks
- Must be able to work with limited supervision
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; especially Excel for data analysis.
- Knowledge of accounting principles related to payroll processing is a plus.
- Office is on a construction site so PPE is required
- WHIMIS and 4 steps is required
- 3 professional references required
Education
- High school diploma and post secondary education in related field
- Associate's degree or relevant certification (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional - CPP) preferred.
